14th July, 2008

Sorry for the delay in results from the past show, which concerned three fighters from the Gym. Kev won his fight on a convincing Points decision, after putting his opponent down with a head kick in the third. Unfortunately Rob didn't fight due to injury, and Hayley lost her bout on a very close Points decision. Unlucky Hayley!

Please remember that the Gym will be closed for the "Fair" fortnight.

29th June, 2008

This Sunday will see three fighters in action from FFG. Hayley, Kev and Rob will be appearing on the SMTC Show being held in Portobello, Edinburgh.

Hayley's fight is a remtach against Sarah Adams. The previous bout was a Draw, and Hayley looks to be well set for this one especially after her last fight in Hamilton where she took the fight on less than a days notice, against an older opponent, and giving away 10KG in weight - but still came through to win!

If you want to go to this show get in touch with James for tickets. Everyone should be making the effort to go and support the fighters as one day you'll want their support!!

9th June, 2008

Remember the show this weekend in Hamilton. The Gym has two fighters on, both fighting for titles. Ben Graham will fight for a Scottish Junior Title, and Graeme Ness will be fighting for the ISKA British Title with Full Thai Rules being the order of the day ;-)

Tickets are available at the Gym, but be quick as they are running out. There are NO tickets available at the venue either. The Gym is also putting on a Mini-Bus for to travel to the event. If you want to go on the Mini-Bus get your name down ASAP. The bus will be leaving the car park at the Gym, the Council one, at 5:30pm Saturday

So c'mon lets get behind the fighters from the Gym as one day you will want their support!!

25th May, 2008

The Gym had a few fighters fighting last night on the SMTC event in Baillieston. Hayley, Savas, and Dougie all fought opponents from Darlington, while Kev's opponent failed to turned up. Unfortunately Hayley lost her bout on a Points decision but was made to wear a headguard due to her age, which Hayley didn't want to do. Both Savas and Dougie won their respective fights on Points decisions with both fighters sending their opponents to the canvas for eight counts in both fights - well done guys!

The next scheduled show that we have interest in is on the 14th June. This will be held at the Bell College in Hamilton. The show Judgement Day, is being promoted by Stevie Nisbet. Appearing will be Savas, Ben, and maybe Kev, and the penultimate fight of that night will be Graeme Ness Vs John Dick for the ISKA British title at 56.6Kg.

Tickets are available so see James soon to get yours before they all go. Atleast half of the tickets for the whole show have been sold already! So please be quick!

21st April, 2008

Some bad news firstly. The fight between Kevin Cottrell and Alan Hunter is now cancelled due to Alan Hunter having to pull out with an injury. Hopefully Kev will get matched very soon on another show. If anyone has offers email or get in touch!!

The other bit of bad news, and don't worry we have some good news too, is that Graeme Ness has had to withdraw from the POS4 8-Man tournament due to injury. Graeme has been having trouble with his right arm/bicep and hasn't thrown a right hand in about 6 weeks, so not good preperation for a tournment of this sort :-(

OK!!! Good news now! Little Miss Tearaway aka Hayley has agreed to step in on very short notice against a far more experienced, older and bigger opponent in Paula Wilkie for the Ladies Scottish title. Not sure what weight it is, let you know ASAP. This will be a huge step for someone of Hayley's age, remember she is only 15 years old - so good luck Hayley!!

More good news is that Dougie Clark will be fighting on the 24th May against Barry Denholm from the SMTC. The fight is not FTR but will be 5x3 Minutes. Dougie gets caught enough without worrying about elbows HeHe Only joking pal, love you reaally!! x

Go for it Dougie! Destroy HaHa!!

PS: The Gym still has tickets for the POS4 show. So if you are still looking to go then get your ticket ASAP so that the remainder can be sent back to the Promoter for redistrubution!

6th April, 2008

Kev Cottrell Vs Alan Hunter (Highlanders)

This fight is matched for 27th April on the Glen Pavillion show in Dunfermline.

Also tickets are available for the POS4 event, get them quick, please. They are £25 each for the Tiered seating, and we onl have a book of 30.

19th March, 2008

The Gym had two fighters fighting last weekend (15th). Dougie, and Kev were both fighting on the WOSSOBAMA Event in Ayr. Unfortunately both Kev and Dougie lost on Points decisions.

Both of them will now be gearing up for better results at the next event, which will be on 28th April in Dunfermline. We are still waiting on them being 100% matched. More info will follow.

Tickets are available for the POS 4 show. Please ask at the Gym ASAP to reserve yours!!

5th March, 2008

The next couple of months are going to be very busy for FFG. There will be 2 fighters from the gym, Dougie and Kev, fighting on 15th March. The Highlanders Gym have a show on at the end of April that will have a few fighters from the gym featruing on it we hope, and also we have Graeme Ness featuring in a 8 Man KO Event on the Power Of Scotland show on the 4th May.

On the 15th March, Kev and Dougie will be fighting on the WOSSOBAMA Muay Thai Fight Night in Ayr. Details as follows;

Dougie Clark Vs Craig Shaw - 78KG

Kevin Cottrell Vs David Bowie

Should be two good fights especially as both fighters have been training hard and looking very sharp in the gym.

There is not much details as of yet regarding the Highlanders Gym's Muay Thai Fight Night. We know it'll probally be at the end of April. More details will be posted ASAP. But we hope to have Dougie, Kev, and Hayley all fighting.

****************

The Power Of Scotland Event, which will be held at The Lagoon Lesuire Centre, Paisley has become Scotland's biggest Muay Thai promotion over the past couple of years. Their succesful 8 Man KO Tournament will again be the Events highlight. This time the Tournament is at 55KG. This mean Graeme will be in with some of the top fighters at that weight in Europe, so it looks to be an excellent show. More details can be found at;

www.powerofscotland.com Or on AX

The gym will hopefully be running a Bus for this Event. Anyone wanting to go get in touch ASAP. We will be getting a batch of 30 Tickets in the next couple of weeks, so be quick!!

9th December, 2007

A big well done to all the Junior fighters who took part in the Golden Belt Junior Championships in Liverpool on Saturday. Ben "Tom Tom" Graham won the Golden Belt in his respective category, Light Midgeweight I think ;-P

Also Hayley Thomson won the Golden Belt in her respective weight category. Although Aaron Sammett lost his bout, he still deserves a massive amount of credit for getting involved in his first competative fight.

All three fighters have done the gym very proud, congratulations :-)

Photos with the belts will be posted ASAP

7th December, 2007

All the best to Ben "Tom Tom" Graham, Hayley Thomson, and Aaron Sammett who are all competing in the Golden Belt Junoir Championships in Liverpool on Saturday.

For the people who have put their name down for the gym's Xmas night out, or informed us that they are going can you please get a £10 deposit paid to James by the end of next week so that your seat can be reserved. If you haven't left a deposit by then, or even got in touch to say you can't make it to gym to pay then you wont be assured a place. The table will be booked for 15, but if need be that amount can be changed, sooner we know the better though.

22nd November, 2007

The fight between Graeme and Dean James for the Commenwealth Title didn't exactley go to plan. Graeme lost by TKO in Round 3. It wasn't a good performance from Graeme, his biggest fight/test was in the end met with probally his worst performance. Not taking anything away from Dean, who is an excellent fighter and a worthy champ, all the best to him.

Onto better news for the gym though....on the 17th November Ben "Tom Tom" Graham fought, and won in his third Junior fight! Ben's opponent didn't come out for the third round, after constant pressure and attacks from Ben in the second. Excellent performance.

Also fighting that night were Savas Cecen, and Jon Brown. Both unfortunately lost their respective fights, but with both guys taking the fights at very short notice(Day Before) and due to work commitments recently haven't been able to train regularly it was a great performance from the both of them and did the gym proud in the process!

The gym will be having their annual Xmas night out on the 20th December. It will be the usual Thai meal then along to a few pubs etc. Partners are welcome too. Anyone wanting to go get in touch ASAP so that numbers can be arranged, and table booked!! Thanks :-)

2nd November, 2007

The fight between Graeme and Reece Crooke has now been changed. Graeme will now fight local Wolvewrhampton lad Dean James for the vacant ISKA Commenwealth Title @ 55Kg on the Supersport Int. Show (11th November).

This will be a very good test for Graeme as Dean has been fighting regularly this past couple of years whereas Graeme has only had 1 fight in over 2 years.......but if there was ever a time for Graeme to pull one out the bag it will be this - hopefully.....lol

Again any people wanting to go, let James know ASAP. Whether you are making your own way down or getting the Mini-Bus, just let him know so numbers can be more accurately measured.

24th October, 2007

Congratulations to Cavas who with only two weeks notice won a very comfortable points victory in Carlisle at the weekend. Well done to Cavas!

For the show in Wolverhampton a Mini-Bus will be leaving the gym on Sunday 11th November, and returning after teh show finishes. The cost will be approx £45 that will include ticket and transport costs. Anyone wanting to go get your name, and a deposit down to James ASAP. Bus will only hold 25 or so people so be quick.

19th October, 2007

Good luck to Cavas for Sunday. Cavas will be fighting in Carlisle. Anyone interested in going to this show please get in touch with James ASAP. There will some tickets left at the door of the venue for us.

The next trip for FFG will be on the 11th November. This is for the event in Wolverhampton where Graeme will be fighting Reece Crooke for the ISKA European Title. James, Graeme etc will be travelling down on the Saturday for the weigh-in but a Mini Bus will be leaving on the Saunday, which is for anyone else that's wanting to see the fight. Whoever is interested in going please let James know ASAP so arrangements can be finalised. Thanks.
